Cramlington Based OEM Support North East Apprentices

HTL Group, North East Headquartered OEM of Controlled Bolting and Fluid Power Solutions are continuing commitment to their Apprenticeship Scheme. The Group places great emphasis on recognising its People as a very important stakeholder in the success of the business and focus on recruiting, retaining and rewarding the talent pool within the business.

Consequently, some great examples are:

Chris Gould, 18, has reached the half way milestone of his apprenticeship with HTL, beginning two years ago. Chris studied physics at school which caught his interest in engineering, and so he applied to Training Development Resource, which then secured him his place at HTL working as an Apprentice Service Engineer.

Chris comments “I really like working at HTL, the Company has been very supportive through my apprenticeship, and I’m enjoying learning new things and maturing into working life.”
Chris successfully completed his BTEC course in the summer, achieving excellent results.

Aimee Nelson, 19, started her Business Administration Level 2 Apprenticeship with HTL in July this year. Before joining the HTL Team Aimee studied Business at her Sixth Form college, which gave her the insight into the topic she needed, to pursue an apprenticeship in a business field.

Aimee comments “Through my studies I wanted to continue in the workplace, and decided that a Business Admin Apprenticeship was the right path for me. HTL has really helped me develop my skills as well as my confidence, and I am looking forward to continuing my apprenticeship with the Company.”

Michael Venus, 24, started working at HTL in the Company’s stores department. From this, his potential as an engineer was realised, and Michael was relocated to a new role in the workshop. The move worked extremely well and Michael was given the opportunity to enrol on an engineering course, namely; BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering. Michael finished his course this summer, achieving extremely high results.

Michael comments “I have always been a very hands-on worker, and had a keen interest in engineering. Been given the opportunity to do my BTEC has given me the skills and confidence I need to take on more responsibility at work and become involved in larger projects; which I really enjoy”.

Paul Storey, Group Managing Director, comments “At HTL we recognise the importance of investing and supporting all our employees at every stage of their career, none more so than the Apprenticeship Scheme we subscribe to”.
