Ben Rees, Workshop Apprentice at HTL, an industry leading provider of controlled bolting, flange working and portable machine solutions is off to St Petersburg, Russia to represent England in the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships.
Following a bronze medal win at the EUBC European Youth Championships earlier in the year, Ben has continued to impress coaches with the skills and attitude he has relentlessly demonstrated during world selection camps.
Running from 14th – 27th November at the Sibur Arena, the Championships welcome more than 400 competing boxers from over 70 countries. At only 18, Ben will represent England in the Middleweight 75 kg category and compete against other international middleweight components.
An intensive training programme and various preparation camps with a dedicated Lead Coach have fully equipped Ben to compete for the 5th Edition of the legendary AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships.
Ben comments: “I went to the EUBC European Youth Championships confident and returned proud to own a bronze medal. Now I am delighted to have been selected to represent England by competing in the Youth World Championships; I feel I have worked extremely hard to prepare to step up to the challenge and represent England; I’d love to return home with another medal.
I would like to thank HTL for their continued support and sponsorship.”
No matter what the outcome is, competing in the Youth World Boxing Championships is a major achievement in Ben’s boxing career.
All at HTL continue to support and wish Ben the best of luck.
