MJI19 - Hydraulically Torque Bolted Connection Techniques

This course covers specifications, methods, processes, techniques and procedures for using hydraulic torque wrenches. The course is assessed through written tests, practical observations and exercises. Successful completion results in an ECITB MJI19 certificate, which is valid for 12 months. Within 12 months, work based task assignments need to be completed and technical competence validation test TMJI19 taken.

  • Demonstrate compliance with health and safety requirements and approved working practices
  • Understand the quality control systems and procedures to be employed during the dismantling, preparation and securing of bolted connection systems
  • Prepare work areas, equipment and materials for the dismantling, preparation and securing of bolted connection systems
  • Dismantle hydraulically torqued bolted connection systems
  • Remove and replace components relating to hydraulically torqued bolted connection systems
  • Assemble, secure and tighten hydraulically torqued bolted connections
  • Verify the integrity of the assembled joint
  • Reinstate the work area, equipment and materials
