HTL’s Hydraulic Torque Wrenches are designed to tighten and loosen bolted connections. With safety being at the forefront of toolbox talks when on site, HTL understand the importance placed on safety therefore test and service all equipment consistently to the highest standards.
In accordance with ISO-2725, heavy duty impact sockets should always be used for power driven wrenches. It is highly recommended not to use worn or damaged sockets and the socket must fit precisely on the nut of the bolt which is to be tightened. Ensure the socket is secure on the square drive to prevent any slippage.
Tip: Do not use metric size sockets or Allen key drives on imperial nuts or bolts.
The torque wrench must be properly positioned manually to make sure that the reaction force is safely transmitted via the reaction arm and not the other torque wrench parts.
Tip: Never use the torque wrench without the reaction arm.
Avoid tilting the wrench when on the application. If this is unavoidable, due to the reaction point, reduce the torque being applied, use extra support to minimise tilting and friction.
Ensure all couplers and hoses are fully connected and that oil can flow freely directly between the connections. Incorrectly connected couplers can still be closed, with the result being that the oil will retract and then become pressurised by the pumps advanced side. The safety relief valve on the wrenches retract side will open and prevent over pressurization.
When bleeding air from the system during the first time operation, the hydraulic hoses and wrench can be full of air. This air must be removed from the system for safe a correct operation.
Remove the air by connecting the hose set to the valve on the hydraulic pump. Connect the couplers on the other end of the hose together completing the hydraulic circuit. Then cycle the pump and valve several times using the remote control, this forces any air into the reservoir and out to the external atmosphere.
Finally, connect the torque wrench to the hose set. As previously stated, cycle the pump and valve several times using the remote, again removing air out into the external atmosphere.
